We all grumble about mushrooms online, but sudden fungal clusters in the yard are just as unwelcome. Case in point:

On our evening walk yesterday I thought rain had flattened a pile of leaves, but when we got closer it was a dense mass of mushrooms that had appeared in under 24 hours. Not exactly the curb appeal we’re aiming for.
I appreciate nature’s surprises — it’s impressive how quickly fungi can emerge — but this sudden bloom needed to go. Removing them was fairly simple, though messy; there was more than a little slimy residue to deal with. Fingers crossed they don’t stage a magical comeback.
P.S. — Sherry here: ten points to anyone who spots the hidden mushroom pun my cheesy husband slipped into this post.
