The new countertops are installed, and they’re a revelation. After months of waiting for a proper surface to work on, any counter would have done — but our sparkling new granite is something special. We’re holding off on the full reveal until tomorrow when the sink, faucet, and dishwasher are all fully installed, so stay tuned for the final before-and-after photos. Yes, we’re that excited.
The day started with the usual home-improvement headaches, though. When the delivery truck pulled up I could hardly believe it — take a look at the vehicle that brought our beautiful, ancient stone:

It was an Arnold bread truck, of all things. For a moment I thought I was imagining it. The delivery crew then set about maneuvering the unbelievably heavy slabs into the kitchen and fitting them into place. I braced myself for scratched floors, dented cabinets, or a ruined appliance. At one point I passed by and found the stove awkwardly sitting in the doorway — it felt like the kitchen was being taken apart and reassembled just to accommodate the new counters.

Yet, by some small miracle, three tense hours later everything looked fantastic. Better than fantastic, actually. Aside from one minor paint touch-up (which I completed after the bread truck left), the kitchen was in great shape.
We’ll share the final photos and the full reveal tomorrow — you won’t want to miss it.
Update: Check out the big kitchen reveal and see it after a bit more accessorizing.
