Q: I love your blog and often check in twice a day. Thank you for your great work! But I have one question: what do you do at the kitchen sink with the few things you regularly use for washing up and cleaning the table (like a sponge, dish cloth, brush, dishwashing detergent, maybe gloves)? Are there stylish, tidy solutions that keep everything organized and looking neat? What would you suggest to anyone who dislikes having too many items cluttering the kitchen? Thank you and greetings from Europe. — Monica
A: Great question! We try to keep the sink area simple and functional while still looking tidy. For day-to-day use we usually fold a dish cloth and place it next to the sink or drape it over the sink edge, depending on the task at hand. It’s easy, quick to access, and keeps the cloth from lying on the counter.

For the sponge we use a small wire caddy that suctions to the inside of the sink. That way the sponge is out of sight unless you look down into the sink, and it drains and dries more quickly. On the countertop, a neat caddy for soap and lotion helps unify items that might otherwise look mismatched. A compact soap-and-lotion dispenser set keeps things feeling curated and less cluttered.

We also keep a bottle of all-purpose cleaner nearby for quick wipe-downs of the counter or table. It’s handy to have within reach, but positioned so it doesn’t dominate the workspace.
Items like dish detergent and rubber gloves are stored under the sink since we rely on our dishwasher for most of the dishes. Storing gloves out of sight avoids an awkward visual element on the counter. If you prefer to keep everything visible, look for simple containers or matching dispensers to create a cohesive look—same material or color tones make disparate items feel intentional.
Do you have sink-side storage ideas that combine form and function? Share what works for you—clever caddies, magnetic holders, simple trays, or in-sink organizers can all help reduce clutter without sacrificing convenience. Small changes—like grouping products in one compact caddy, using a hidden in-sink sponge holder, or storing bulk items under the sink—make a big difference in keeping the kitchen calm and organized.
