Anyone can create a charming photo Christmas card—especially if they have a baby and a dog. As we head into the holiday weekend, we’re excited for presents to be unwrapped (yes, Burger gets gifts too), for indulging in festive treats, and for spending time with family and friends. Before the celebrations begin, we wanted to wish you HAPPY HOLIDAYS and share our little family’s Christmas card.

The image above is the card we mailed to family and friends. The message reads: “Hope you get your mitts on everything that you want this season.” We used a Snapfish template—simply uploaded the photo and our message, and ordered forty 5 x 7 matte photo cards with envelopes. With a coupon code we found online, the whole order came to around $25.
Getting this shot required a bit more effort than past years’ cards, which mostly featured Burger in solo roles—a reindeer, a smooch-spreading pup, and even a proud big brother in waiting. This year we had two subjects to coordinate, which added challenges from getting Burger to tolerate his outfit to keeping both models in place at the same time. Despite the logistics, it was a lot of fun to watch Clara try to lick Burger for once—odd, but true.
Since you often enjoy behind-the-scenes details, here’s our makeshift “set”: a cluster of sheepskins in the den where we photographed the card in early December.

Notice the block acting as Clara’s stand-in while she got a diaper change? A fun detail: Sherry later added the bow to Clara’s head in Photoshop after uploading the photo, since she doesn’t have enough hair yet for a real bow. We hope your holiday season is full of warmth and joy. May your days be merry and bright—and may your chihuahuas (and other family members) be held close.
Update: We’ve chosen a few favorite holiday decor finds for the season, many of them budget-friendly.
