Inside Our New Home: A Video Tour of Every Room and Feature

Now that we’re wrapping things up at our current house and have finally revealed that we’re moving, we’ve given ourselves permission to lose our minds a little. This new house video tour is full of the kind of bright, bubbly excitement that only a home in your dream neighborhood can create. Forgive the enthusiasm — watching the video might make you cringe the same way my way-too-enthusiastic mom made me cringe in high school, which is probably a sign I’m becoming her. Uh oh.

There it is: the first set of stairs we’ve ever owned, and the house attached to them.

A few notes about the video:

  • I’m totally not awkward at the beginning (wink).
  • We used John’s phone to “time stamp” the video after Googling “today’s date” on the day we filmed. Clearly we’re very high-tech.
  • Drinking game idea: count how many times I say “love.”
  • Watch for John’s finger popping into frame to point the way — he holds the camera while I walk and chat. If I had the camera you’d get three sentences and long, awkward silences, so you’re better off this way.
  • Apologies for a few odd audio moments: empty rooms echo and the upstairs bathroom fan is unnervingly loud on film.
  • I briefly sing about stairs, because my life apparently is a musical now.
  • We’re ridiculously excited — did I mention that already?

Please be patient when you ask about our plans and the to-do list we’re building. We’ll put together a floor plan post and share our master to-do list as soon as we solidify things — right now we’re in the ever-changing phase of deciding what to do next. It may take a little while to feel fully settled into a “new house” mindset since we still live in our current home and are juggling selling it, packing, and organizing the move.

I’ll close with a wholehearted “AHHHHHHHHHHH!” and a big, grateful kiss to everyone reading. We’re so excited to share this next chapter with you. And Mom — if you’re reading this — I’m not too worried about turning into you, though I’m not thrilled that none of my shoes will fit me the same way anymore.
