When the editors of a fresh online magazine focused on stylish Southern living reached out, we were thrilled to see their premiere issue. Their concept—part Lonny, part Southern Living—immediately appealed to our sense of fun and design, and when they invited us to appear in that first issue, we celebrated like proud dorks.

The team explained that Southern Flourish will run a recurring column called “Our Favorite Room,” and they asked us to introduce the feature by describing which room in our house we love most and why. That prompt was right up our alley—talking about favorite spaces is basically our idea of a good time. We enjoyed contributing to the inaugural issue and were delighted with the finished magazine; we clicked through it eagerly from cover to cover.
Below is our piece embedded in the issue. Use the viewer controls to flip pages and enlarge the spread to read comfortably.
We admire Southern Flourish’s mission to keep things fresh, youthful, and fun—qualities not always associated with the traditional South. It’s exciting to watch a new magazine find its voice, and we look forward to seeing how the publication evolves.
Many thanks to everyone at Southern Flourish for inviting us to be part of their first issue. Their plans to add inline links so readers can view prices and purchase featured items directly within the magazine are smart and useful. In an era when so many print titles are disappearing, it’s encouraging to see inventive online content launch and thrive. Best of all, the magazine is free, which feels like candy to a magazine-loving girl—easy to savor and impossible to resist.
Since we’re on the topic of favorite rooms, we’d love to hear about yours. Is your bedroom your sanctuary—calm, uncluttered, and restful? Do you favor the kitchen because it’s where everyone gathers and conversation flows? Or is the family room your pick for casual comfort and cozy nights in? Tell us which space in your home you love most and why.
