Friday Costume Countdown: Fun Departure Party Ideas

With Halloween finally here, we’re curious how you plan to celebrate: hosting a party, attending one, dressing up, or simply answering the door and handing out handfuls of candy to pint-sized ghosts and goblins. This year Halloween feels especially intriguing—perhaps because it marks a clear before-and-after for the home (we gave our porch and our living room a little spooky makeover)—and even for the person wearing the costume, since dressing up brings an immediate transformation.

Tell us who or what you’ll be for the night. Any Jon & Kate Plus 8s? Maybe those adorable kids from the movie Juno? Share the parties you’ll host or attend, and especially what your kids—whether two-legged or four—will be wearing. We had many requests for photos of Burger in his costume, so without further ado, here’s Hamburger the hot dog:

We picked this little costume up for about $9.99 at Target. Two out of three Petersiks were thrilled with the find.

If Burger had his way, he’d wear it like this…

Whether you’re going all-out with decorations and a themed party, keeping it simple, or focusing on costumes for the kids, Halloween is a chance to play, be creative, and share fun memories. We’d love to hear about your plans and see your photos—especially any costume wins (or funny fails). Have a safe and spooky night!
