After 15 slow days of waiting, our kitchen remodel finally resumed this Monday when the replacement corner cabinet arrived.
That allowed the installer to come by yesterday—right at 8 a.m.—to install the final cabinet, which had to be reordered from KraftMaid because the first one was assembled backward. Mike, the installer, also completed several finishing touches while he was here: he added toe kicks and shoe molding, ran the hood vent through the attic, and attached the final section of the range hood. They were small details, but they made a big difference—proving that the devil really is in the details.
Tell me that’s not a handsome hood.

After a half dozen frustrating calls to Stonemark Granite over the past two weeks, they finally agreed to come out later today to measure for the countertops—even though we were originally told we would have to wait nine more days.
That means our new granite countertops should be installed in about two to three weeks. Wahoo. I realize two to three weeks may not sound like “mere,” but a little optimism goes a long way.
