Not having a functioning kitchen is starting to wear on us.
It might sound odd, but tonight we were too tired to eat out and instead decided to try cooking in our kitchen that currently lacks a counter and sink. Fortunately, the meal—chocolate chip pancakes—was simple enough to prepare on the top of a cabinet used as a makeshift work surface. We were also relieved to find the stovetop still works after nearly three months of disuse.
The real frustration, though, comes with cleanup. Washing dishes without a proper kitchen sink is a tedious chore, and doing them in the bathroom is far from motivating. That awkward, inconvenient cleanup is a strong reminder of how much a functioning kitchen matters and how little enthusiasm we have for repeating the whole process until the sink and counters are back in place.
