Affordable April Flower Ideas: Budget-Friendly Spring Bouquets

I’m back to share this month’s grocery-store bouquet — a sweet little present from the hubs — and this time our $4 flower find coincided with a photoshoot at our house for our regular column in Richmond’s R. Home magazine (look for the link in a few weeks).

For the shoot we needed small green and pink blooms and trimmed them close to the flowerhead to suit the photos. Because the stems were mostly removed, we ended up displaying the flowers a little differently than usual.

We floated the little heads in small votive candle holders in our sunroom — an easy, charming way to show them off without stems.

They’re such a sweet spot of color to notice when we’re coming and going, or sitting down for an alfresco dinner.

How are you welcoming April? Any new blooms coming up in your garden? Our daffodils have already come and gone, and we’re eagerly waiting for fresh raspberries from a little bush we planted in our soon-to-be edible garden. It seems like everyone we know is expecting — so many friends and family are pregnant — and we’re happily stepping into aunt and uncle roles for now. The birds and the bees are definitely busy this month. What’s new with you?
