Your Questions Answered: Part 2 — Expert Responses and Tips

Since we couldn’t fit all of your questions into last week’s video, here’s Part 2 — a follow-up where we answer more amusing and offbeat personal questions sent in by readers via Twitter and Facebook. These were submitted before our big blogiversary celebration, and they had us laughing and occasionally cringing as the camera rolled. Topics range from “what was your first thought when you saw your house?” to “what chore don’t you trust the other person to do?” to “when do you find time to work out?” and “does Sherry really wear pajamas all day since she works from home?”

Sherry keeps her language a bit cleaner this time around (see what we mean in Part 1), and you can watch Part 2 below or on YouTube.

Can’t watch the video? Here’s a concise recap of the highlights we cover:

  • Dishwasher duty is a point of contention — I don’t trust Sherry to load it correctly, and she’d rather I skip toilets and pruning. We’ve come to a practical division of labor that mostly works.
  • We discovered our signature “Petersik Style” a few months into blogging, once we settled on a refined color palette for the house.
  • Sherry sparked my interest in home decor, but I’ve always cared about design and enjoy stretching my creative muscles alongside her.
  • Sherry’s good looks are a mix of DNA, makeup, and a little photo editing — nothing mystical, just reality.
  • We’re a one-car household driving a Nissan Maxima. I daydream about a used Honda Element, Sherry leans toward a used Nissan Rogue, and somewhere in the answers I jokingly make her think she’s pregnant.
  • Our living/dining room is mainly where we entertain — and sometimes eat messy dinners — while the den gets more relaxed use. Burger, our dog, claims the back of the couch and enjoys staring out the window as the room’s unofficial monarch.
  • Sherry attributes our punny writing style to her copywriting background, but we also credit our dads’ quirky senses of humor — shout out to Tom and Ken for the influence.
  • When it comes to reading, we mostly browse blogs and magazines. If we pick up books, they’re usually pink-covered chick lit for Sherry or nerdy non-fiction for me (sometimes Sherry reads that too).
  • Sherry’s first impression of our house was “we have to have it,” while my immediate thought was, “that’s a lot of yard work.” Both impressions turned out to be true in their own ways.
  • Although she works from home, Sherry usually changes out of pajamas — about 99% of the time — but she misses the New York days when she dressed up and wore 4″ heels. For the longest time I didn’t even realize she was only 5’2″.
  • We adopted a chihuahua because I wanted a cat and Sherry is allergic. Burger is essentially a cat-sized dog, easy to travel with and perfectly suited to our lifestyle.
  • Exercise routines differ: Sherry only runs when chased and prefers long walks with Burger and the physical satisfaction of home improvement projects, while I’m a lunch-break runner.

We know plenty of questions are still out there, so feel free to send more our way. Once we start chatting, we’re Talky McTalkersons — we love answering questions. We can’t promise every single one will make it into a future video, but we do our best not to leave curious readers hanging.
