A lot of you have been asking what I picked up from Target for Nate’s big weekend debut. I’m a devoted fan—remember when our hands almost touched?—so I was at the store the moment it opened on Sunday. Even though we’d just returned from Cincinnati late the night before, I couldn’t resist the hunt. I raced in full of hope, only to find nothing on the shelves and two very polite Target employees who had no idea what I was talking about.
Instead of launching into a full-on praise session for Nate (I would have, had I had the time), I told John to drive to another Target. No luck at the second one either. At that point I started to worry it was an exclusive-city release or delayed in our area. We had a family party across town, so the search was paused until we were driving home and passed another Target. That store only had an unlabeled end-cap with a few towels by Nate, and I began to accept that Richmond might be left out or that the collection wouldn’t arrive until later. Then John surprised me by stopping at yet another Target—there are a lot of Targets around here—and when I walked in I found this:

Pure joy. I immediately snapped and posted the photo on Instagram, and I’d actually taken that picture after I grabbed the two pieces I wanted and stood protectively next to them, ready for anyone else who might swoop in. Here’s my “mine” shot:

I’d admired the white tortoise-shell piece ever since I saw a preview of the collection, and the spiky urchin—quirky and porcupine-like—was irresistible. Back at the car I was grinning so wide that John, who had stayed with Clara, started laughing at me. I was impossibly happy.
Within 24 hours my friend Katie posted her own finds, and she picked up the same items—great minds, right?

Does it count as best-friend synchronicity when you buy the same things without coordinating? I think it does. We both called each other and laughed about it. Good times.
At home, the corner where I planned to place the pieces always felt a bit heavy on the left side…

Hanging the tortoise shell helped balance the arrangement. Its glossy, ceramic-animal look is lovely—definitely a favorite.

Close-up—so cute on our stenciled wall.

The urchin found a home on my small fall mantel. I already had a bronze spiky orb on the other side, so the new piece fits right in.

That was my mini adventure with Nate’s Target release. What did you find? Did you have trouble locating items? Did anyone pick up the bedding or towels, or those bold colored chains? I loved the yellow chain but didn’t have a place for it, so I passed—though it could make a fun DIY using an old heavy chain and some spray paint.
