Celebrating our five-month wedding anniversary became even more memorable when we discovered we’d won five thousand dollars. A few months ago we entered the Remodel, Blog & Win contest organized by RemodelingMySpace. With 46 other blogs competing, we never expected to take the grand prize, so the news felt surreal.
When the finalists were announced, I asked to delay dinner until the winner was revealed. John cautioned me not to get my hopes up, since the odds were long. I tried to stay calm, but when the phone finally rang, everything changed. Hearing that we won the $5,000 felt like a whirlwind—loud cheering, jumping, hugs and disbelief followed. Even Burger, our pet, seemed puzzled by all the commotion.
We are extremely grateful to Paul Marek and the RemodelingMySpace team for creating such an enjoyable contest. Their effort made the experience exciting from start to finish. Winning this prize gives us a chance to support causes and continue the projects we love.
Part of the winnings will go to a housing charity in Richmond, and the remainder will fund new home projects we plan to document and share. We look forward to using this opportunity to improve our home and give back to the community, while continuing to post updates and ideas for fellow DIY enthusiasts.
