You may have noticed a bouquet in the middle of the table at Clara’s party two weeks ago.

Not all of those blooms survived, unfortunately:

However, a few stems are still fresh, so I placed them in three of my favorite Ikea vases for a simple, cheerful display:

Yes, I put them on the bathroom windowsill. For some reason we’ve never had flowers in that room before, so I enjoyed the little novelty of “first flowers in the bathroom.” Returning to inexpensive, cheerful blooms feels like a small way of settling in again—bringing back a routine we’d set aside after moving. It’s a reminder to stop and appreciate simple things.
What blooms are you bringing home lately? Do you like super-bright flowers like these? The water from the original vase turned neon pink, which made me pause; I usually prefer less or no dye. Still, for the bean’s big birthday party, they were fun and festive. And her dad picked them out—for that reason alone I thought they were perfect.
Bonus: Friday extension
Picking up from yesterday’s end-of-Oprah denial in my previous post, someone suggested I try the “Oprah-fy yourself” feature on Oprah.com, so I gave it a go.

Then I Oprah-fied John.

It’s been a fun little distraction. The effect wasn’t great on Burger or Clara, but John’s version is hilarious—especially the oversized earrings. If you try the Oprah-fy tool, feel free to share your results on our Facebook page; I’d love to see everyone’s big hair and goofy transformations. I’m genuinely excited to see what you come up with.
