Celebrating Year Three: Our Blog’s Big Move and What’s Next

And now for some big news: we’re searching for a new Casa Petersik.

After four and a half wonderful years in our current home, we’ve decided it’s time to sell. Why? Because we love a project and we’re genuinely excited about the idea of starting a fresh home makeover—and sharing every step of the process with you. Renovating, painting, and reimagining spaces is something we crave, so rather than feel daunted by beginning again, we’re energized by the possibilities.

Leaving a house you love is bittersweet. As John said, “we’ve enjoyed transforming an old, dated house way too much to stop at just one.” There are plenty of older homes that could use some TLC, and that idea is irresistible to us. At first I was in denial—declaring this was our forever house—but John knows me well. A few months ago I casually suggested checking out some open houses just for fun, and that curiosity quickly turned into a flood of ideas: “If we got a new place we could do this… and that…” Suddenly the possibilities felt electric, and I couldn’t wait to explore them.

We took time to think it through to make sure it was a mutual decision. We talked it over with our parents, who were incredibly supportive and excited for us. Their perspective helped confirm that this was the right next step.

So it’s official: we’re putting our house on the market and actively looking at other homes for sale. If you’re local and interested in buying our house, we wanted to share the news here before it hits the MLS. Email us at [email protected] if you’re seriously interested and ready to move. We’re in Bon Air, a neighborhood with great schools and plenty of charm, and you can take a virtual tour of our home through our posts.

We plan to remain in the Richmond area and are seeking another older, dated home that needs love and attention. Suggestions for neighborhoods with strong schools and charming, established homes outside of Bon Air are very welcome. While we’re still considering Bon Air, we don’t want to limit our search.

This won’t happen overnight. Finding a house we love as much as this one will take time, and selling our current home could take several months. That said, we’re already on the hunt. We’ll document the prep work to get our house ready for sale and share every step of touring potential new homes, weighing neighborhoods, and narrowing down what we want—and what we don’t—before signing on the dotted line and grabbing the keys to our new casa.

With the holidays approaching, we’ll continue our seasonal decorating projects, create gift guides, and produce our regular blog content like mood boards, House Crashings, Reader Redesigns, and more. We’re excited to bring you along on this next chapter and can’t wait to show you what’s next.
