We’re working on a few projects this morning, but in the meantime we thought we’d share a quick, make-the-most-of-what-you-have idea. Several people have asked where the armless loveseat in our living room came from. It isn’t a single piece of furniture but two of our old, inexpensive Dolce chairs pushed together, with two Ikea faux sheepskins draped over the seam.

And joined:

Because the front legs rest on the rug, the chairs don’t slide apart, so the arrangement is surprisingly stable and perfectly usable. If we planned to keep them like this long-term, we might bolt them together underneath the frames with metal L-brackets for extra security. For now, though, we’re skipping that step since Karl’s arrival might change the living room layout, and we’d rather wait and see how things settle.
Taking it one day at a time has become our unofficial motto, and it really helps. We have what feels like five million items on the to-do list, and we keep switching gears from room to room and from painting projects to fabric hunting. Still, we’re not as overwhelmed as you might expect—breaking big tasks into daily, manageable steps makes a difference.
We admit it’s kind of corny, but embracing the small joys and not stressing about every decision has made the process more enjoyable. So we’re sitting back, enjoying the ride, and seeing where this phase of projects leads us.
