DIY Armchair Makeover: Paint and Fabric Revamp Guide

Alison’s chair makeover is stunning and instantly inspiring. She recognized the great lines of two otherwise plain chairs and turned them into eye-catching focal pieces for her living room. Here’s her story:

I thought I’d share the before-and-after photos of a pair of amazing chairs I scored at an estate sale for $5 each. I repainted and recovered them, and now they sit in our living room! I spotted one chair first, liked it, walked away, and then found the second tucked in the attic of the house. With everything half price, I couldn’t resist—sold! I brought them home, cleaned them up, and sprayed them with Satin Black paint. Then I went hunting for fabric. I live near Minneapolis, MN, and discovered a small fabric shop called Crafty Planet that had exactly what I wanted: zebra animal print in my favorite yellowish-green. A few staples later, and I had a pair of fantastic chairs. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Love the blog! -Alison

This double chair transformation proves that a modest DIY budget can yield high-impact results. A fresh coat of paint, bold fabric, and a little elbow grease turned two $5 estate-sale finds into pieces that look expensive and thoughtfully designed. Thanks to Alison for sharing these beautiful photos and the uplifting makeover story.
