Find Your Perfect Home Color Palette with This Simple Tool

If you’ve ever thought about designing a whole room around a photograph or a single piece of art, Lifehacker highlights a helpful tool that does just that. The Color Palette Generator allows you to upload an image and automatically creates color palettes that match the tones in your photo. While you’ll still want to compare paint chips in person to find an exact match, this tool is useful because it provides three coordinated schemes—light, medium, and dark—so you can choose a palette whether you prefer a bright, airy look, a moody tone, or something in between.

Below are a few of our own photos we tested with the tool (we’re not planning to repaint any rooms right now, but it was fun to experiment).
