Unfortunately, my favorite oversized ceramic dog — a HomeGoods find from three years ago that only cost $29 — lost his face. As one well-known blogger put it: it sucked, and then I cried.

There’s a little candle-lit vigil happening. Goodbye, Mr. Ceramic Dog — you were a perfect pet who never left a mess. And then this happened.

I might attempt to glue the pieces back together, though some fragments are tiny. For now I’ve been shaking, wiping tears, and whispering “why?”

Only kidding — I’ll survive.
