Soft Pink Nursery Makeover: Cozy, Stylish Baby Room Ideas

When Holly Mathis of Holly Mathis Interiors shared her latest nursery makeover, we were excited to feature the beautiful transformation. Below is her note about the project:

This time I wanted my second little boy’s nursery to feel less cottage-y while working with the room’s existing light, awnings, and basic furniture (though I did upgrade to a better rocker—lesson learned!). I selected more modern fabrics while keeping some Southern baby staples like monograms and smocked outfits. The result has a touch of a Domino-inspired look that pleases me without clashing with the rest of our still-cottage-style house. I’m now just waiting for the baby—due Monday—and wanted to share. Good luck with all your projects. Love what y’all do! — Holly

Nursery detail

This nursery is a lovely balance of modern and classic elements. The updated fabrics bring a fresh, contemporary feel while the monogrammed and smocked details preserve a warm, Southern charm. The improved rocker adds both comfort and style, making the space practical for new parents. The thoughtful mix of textures and patterns keeps the room visually interesting without overwhelming the calm, cottage-infused aesthetic of the rest of the home.

What stands out most is the restraint in design—choosing a few statement pieces and mixing them with familiar, sentimental touches. The result feels cohesive and livable, perfect for everyday use and special moments alike. Thanks to Holly for sharing these inviting before-and-after photos, and best wishes for a smooth delivery and happy parenting ahead.
