Our house has never looked more festive. We decorated the living room, the den, and the front door with sparkly accents, and even though it was 82 degrees yesterday, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

The silver-themed tree turned out beautifully. A few strategically placed silver baubles around the house helped tie the rooms together and gave a cohesive, festive feel.

My favorite new ornament holder is a giant clam shell I received from Z Gallerie as a birthday surprise. The varied tones of the silver ornaments inside catch the light and look like oversized pearls. Glass baubles also work beautifully in vases or on platters, and hanging them from clear fishing line in a sunny window lets the light stream through—an effortless way to add sparkle during the day.

I mixed in a few unexpected natural elements, too—balancing starfish in the tree introduced a contrasting texture to the smooth glass ornaments. The interplay between angular starfish and round, reflective baubles creates visual interest and encourages the eye to move around the display. Little surprises, like a silver piggy bank or a vintage disco ball, give the overall scheme personality and invite closer inspection.
Decorating on a theme makes it easier to maintain balance and cohesion: pick a palette, repeat materials, and introduce one or two contrasting textures or shapes to keep the look lively. Layer different sizes of ornaments, use nontraditional containers as focal points, and don’t be afraid to include playful or sentimental pieces that tell your story.
Now it’s your turn—share your decorating ideas and photos. We love seeing how others bring holiday cheer into their homes, and swapping tips is one of the best parts of the season.
