We’ve been a little sneaky—not living a double life, just quietly slipping away for a secret vacation. John and I spent the past week on a small chain of islands off Florida’s west coast, swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, eating plenty of seafood, blogging from the beach, and working on our tans (or, in my case, accidentally sunburning my left ear).
We called the trip “Honeymoon Part Two.” Since our official honeymoon nine months ago took us to the far northwest (Alaska), it felt fitting to continue celebrating newlywed life down in the southeast this time. Like the first honeymoon, our little Hamburguesa came along—he joined in on beach romps and had some pretty funny encounters with lizards by the pool.
We discovered several gorgeous beach houses and a few favorite coastal home-decor spots that I can’t wait to share—perfect for anyone who wants to vicariously vacation with us. Until then, grab some sunscreen and a salt-rimmed margarita and get ready for a week of beach-inspired posts from Young House Love.
Psst—Curious for more about our getaway? Check the follow-up post for additional details and photos.
