We bought a Roomba nearly a decade ago because the idea sounded great. In practice, it was noisy, often got stuck, and barely covered any floor before the battery died. It required so much attention that our time was better spent vacuuming ourselves, and we eventually sold it.
So you can imagine our surprise when we discovered that robot vacuum technology has improved dramatically. Our current robot vacuum feels like a completely different machine than the one we had years ago — and it cost much less. We’ve owned this new model for two years and we won’t give it up.
Note: We bought this ourselves and absolutely love it. This is not a sponsored post.

Below we’ll cover what model we own, how much it costs, the features we like, tips for getting the most from it, and what other owners say.

What Is Our Favorite Robot Vacuum?
Earlier this year we bought a slim Eufy RoboVac after a friend raved about hers. We were skeptical, but the price and return policy made it easy to try. It’s been months and we kept it. We updated the model to the latest available slim RoboVac for better performance and reviews.

We run our Eufy every day on a schedule. It’s essentially autopilot: it starts when programmed, completes a cleaning cycle, then returns to its charger. The kids even talk to it by name — Eufy — and it has become part of our daily routine.
We tried other nicknames, but the original name stuck. People on social media come up with clever names for theirs, like Meryl Sweep and Optimus Clean.
How Much Does A Robot Vacuum Cost?
One major advantage of our Eufy is cost. The slim RoboVac usually retails below many competitors and frequently has discounts and coupons. It’s one of the more affordable robot vacuums on the market and often costs far less than professional cleanings or pricier robotic models that offer extras like self-emptying bases or advanced mapping.
Higher-priced models may add Wi‑Fi, voice control, apps, or automatic dust-emptying docks, but we’ve been very happy with this entry-level RoboVac for everyday cleaning.

In practice this RoboVac handles roughly 90–95% of our routine vacuuming and keeps the floors noticeably cleaner.
How Our Robot Vacuum Works & What We Love Most
A robot vacuum travels around your home, vacuums, and then returns to its charging base. Our Eufy is simple but effective, with features that make it a reliable daily cleaner. We also share a short video demonstrating how we use ours in the house.
Here are the features we appreciate most.
Automatic Daily Schedule
We set a daily start time using the included remote and the RoboVac runs automatically each morning for around 90 minutes, cleaning the main floor. It’s mostly set-and-forget: we rarely use the remote after programming the schedule and only press the top button to pause or restart if needed.

Gentle Obstacle Navigation
Built-in sensors let the RoboVac navigate around chair legs, cabinets, and other obstacles without banging into or scratching furniture. It cleans under tables, desks, and chairs — even when people are seated — and handles edges and carpet transitions smoothly.

Compared with our older model, this one is much smarter and more careful around walls and furniture.
Quieter Operation
Modern robot vacuums are significantly quieter than older units. We can work or talk while it runs, and our dog doesn’t mind at all.

Slim Design Reaches Tight Spots
The slim profile allows the RoboVac to slide under beds, loveseats, and low vanities, cleaning places we rarely reached before. That narrow clearance makes a surprising difference in removing hidden dust and improving air quality for people with allergies.

Side Brushes Reach Beyond the Robot
Small side “whiskers” extend beyond the vacuum’s body to sweep dust out from narrow gaps under appliances and furniture. Those brushes are surprisingly effective at cleaning areas that a standard upright vacuum might miss.

Works in Big and Small Homes
Whether your home is compact or multi-level, a RoboVac can still be useful. Some people carry a single unit between floors; others opt for a second unit for convenience. In our experience, cleaning the main level thoroughly reduces debris tracked to other floors.

Smooth Transitions Across Surfaces
The RoboVac handles rugs, carpets, hardwood, and tile and can climb small thresholds. For larger thresholds you can move the unit between areas as needed.
Reliable Cliff Sensors
Cliff sensors prevent falls down stairs or off ledges. We’ve tested this repeatedly and it consistently detects drops and changes direction to continue cleaning safely.

Automatically Returns to Charge
After finishing its run, the RoboVac docks itself to recharge. We keep the charging base hidden under our loveseat in a central spot, which makes it easy for the robot to find and stay out of sight when idle.

Visible Proof It’s Working
Our RoboVac consistently returns with a full dustbin, which is reassuring evidence that it’s cleaning effectively. The random-looking pattern it follows is deliberate: it often passes over the same area multiple times to lift more dirt.

How To Get The Most Out Of Your Robot Vacuum
These practical tips make daily operation smoother and minimize interruptions.
Choose the Right Charging Spot
Pick a charging spot that is hidden, centrally located, easy to access, and close to an outlet. We tuck our base under a loveseat so the RoboVac stays out of sight but is still easy to retrieve for emptying.

Secure the Charging Base
Occasionally the robot nudges the base out of alignment. We secured ours with an adhesive strip so it stays in place and the RoboVac docks reliably.
Manage Loose Cords
Loose cords are the RoboVac’s main hazard. We spent about 30 minutes bundling and tucking cords out of the way, using zip ties and small bins to keep everything off the floor. The RoboVac beeps before starting, which helps remind everyone to pick up chargers and cords.

Do Minimal Daily Prep
Daily prep is optional but helpful: pick up clothes, small toys, or charging cords, and close doors to rooms you don’t want cleaned. These quick tasks prevent interruptions and help the RoboVac run smoothly.

Have Spare Accessories
Replacement filters and brushes are inexpensive and handy to keep on hand. We bought a small parts kit so a loose whisker or filter won’t keep the RoboVac from cleaning while we wait for a replacement.

Make sure the side brushes snap on firmly so they don’t pop off during a run.
It Won’t Clean Every Spot Every Day
Entry-level models use a randomized pattern rather than precise mapping, so coverage varies each session. Over time it visits every accessible area frequently, which keeps dirt and dust from accumulating.

You’ll Still Need a Regular Vacuum Occasionally
Keep a traditional vacuum for stairs, deep-cleaning corners, or large spills. The RoboVac handles daily maintenance but can’t move furniture or reach every tiny corner.

Empty the Dustbin Daily
Our RoboVac’s dustbin fills every run, so we empty it daily. It’s quick — the compartment pops out and dumps into the trash — and ensures the unit is ready for the next cleaning.

What Other People Think About It
We asked other owners and heard a lot of positive feedback, especially from people with pets and kids. Common themes included huge time savings, dramatic pickup of hair and dirt after a professional clean, and overall relief from daily vacuuming chores.

In short: if you were once skeptical like we were, modern robot vacuums are worth considering. They handle the daily grind, reach hidden spots, and free up time for other things.
