Having spent an unusually long time wrestling with our own chair upholstery project (I mostly watched while my wife took on the heavy lifting), we’re even more impressed with Erin’s transformation of her great aunt’s loveseat. Here’s her note about the project:
Several months ago I decided to reupholster my great aunt’s old loveseat. At first I planned to hire a professional because I’d never attempted anything like this before. Then I asked myself, “Why not give it a try?” That’s how Project Loveseat began.

It was definitely challenging, and mostly improvised. I can’t even write a full, step-by-step tutorial because I’m not sure I could repeat everything I did exactly. But the experience proves that these kinds of projects are possible for the average person—especially one with a lot of staples and patience. It isn’t flawless, but it turned out much better than I imagined. – Erin

Three cheers to Erin for sharing these lovely photos and for inspiring others to try an upholstery project. You can find more process photos on her blog Olive Our House. Have you tackled any upholstery, furniture refinishing, painting, fabric projects, or full-room makeovers recently?
