Frame Magazine Pages into Stylish Wall Art: Quick DIY Guide

I had to share a small new addition to our desk. While flipping through a Real Simple magazine, I was stopped by one of their inspirational quotes — so moved that I actually tore the page out. I then dug into our “decor store” (a kitchen cabinet where we keep vases, frames, candles and other home accents for easy rotation — basically shopping at home) and found an old frame from John’s college days. I popped the magazine cut-out into the frame and set it on the desk.

Isn’t that a sweet little quote? I love the peaceful image and the simple sentiment. Now it serves as a daily reminder that life is good: we have a roof over our heads, food on the table, and—most importantly—each other. It’s comforting to remember that happiness doesn’t require an excess of things. As the saying goes, more money can bring more problems. Best of all, this tiny piece of desk art cost nothing, which is a nice reminder that money can’t buy contentment.

UPDATE: If you don’t have any Real Simple issues on hand, they offer free Daily Thought wallpapers for your computer desktop. One of them features the “Happiness” quote we liked, although the photograph is different. Either way, it’s an easy, simple way to bring a small reminder of gratitude into your daily life.
