Free Sample Taste Test: Honest Reviews of Popular Snacks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

We’re comfortable installing toilets and refinishing cabinets, but when it comes to cooking we welcome expert help. So we were excited when our giveaway sponsor, America’s Test Kitchen, sent us a review copy of their new cookbook Cooking for Two and offered multiple prizes for readers. When our complimentary preview arrived, we knew it would make dinner planning easier and more delicious.

I’m the resident home-cook around here, so I flipped straight to simple, beginner-friendly recipes. What stood out immediately is that each recipe is scaled for two servings—no math required—and every entry includes detailed background: why specific ingredients were chosen, the ideal temperatures, and the best prep techniques. Those notes are invaluable for someone learning fundamentals—things like the proper way to shred basil made a real difference. Armed with that confidence, I tried their Crunchy Baked Pork Chops with Aioli (page 79) over the weekend. I paired them with frozen vegetables because I was busy making homemade breadcrumbs, but the chops were a keeper.

And a few of you had the chance to try it too. America’s Test Kitchen generously offered a brand-new hardcover copy of Cooking for Two to five randomly selected readers. To enter the giveaway at the time, readers were asked to comment on the post with the phrase “I WANT A TASTE” by the deadline and to share what they’d choose as their favorite meal—the one they’d select as a last meal or eat every day if stranded on an island.

We limited entries to one per e-mail address. Winners were selected at random and announced the following day. Congratulations to the lucky recipients, and thanks to everyone who entered.
