When Stacie told us she was redesigning the front of her beautiful home in Richmond’s Historic Fan district, we knew the result would be impressive. She’s already impressed us with her interior style before, so we were excited to see the exterior transformation. Her makeover exceeded expectations: thoughtful design choices, careful restoration, and expert workmanship combined to create a striking new look that feels both authentic and fresh.
Stacie worked closely with a contractor committed to preserving historic character while executing modern upgrades. Eric Schmoldt of Advantage Construction oversaw the restoration, paying close attention to period-appropriate details and high-quality finishes. The collaboration between Stacie’s vision and Eric’s craftsmanship produced a dramatic change that almost makes the house unrecognizable—in the best possible way.

Here are a few shots from the project in progress:

And now, the stunning after photos:

The transformation is remarkable. The house moves from ordinary to elegantly restored, demonstrating how thoughtful exterior work can completely change a home’s curb appeal. Small details—trim work, paint choices, repaired masonry, and sympathetic replacements—make a big difference when preserving the historic feel while improving function and appearance.
This renovation is a great reminder that even houses that don’t look their best from the street can become exceptional with the right plan and skilled execution. Thanks to Stacie for sharing her project and to the contractor for honoring the home’s historic character. We’re inspired to look at our own home’s exterior with fresh eyes.
