This is one of our favorite bathroom remodels — and it’s even more impressive because the homeowner and her family completed the entire project themselves. Amazing. Here’s the letter she sent us:
Love watching you guys work your magic! Saw your call for before and afters, and thought you might get a kick out of this one. It was a favorite of mine because it was a family affair. The kids (four teens and assorted friends) ripped out the tile and hauled everything out, including a beast of a harvest-gold cast-iron tub. Have you ever tried to move one of those? I found a great old antique altar table to use as a vanity, and another carved piece to repurpose as the medicine-cabinet door. At our local Goodwill I found a counter piece and a kitchen drawer base, which we tucked into an underutilized linen closet to create drawers and a getting-ready area for the kids. It sounds a tad funky, but we love the result. Thanks for peeking…and keep up the wonderful inspiration! — Linda

And Linda’s stunning after photos:

Notice the beautiful textured wallpaper and the striking antique vanity? They transformed a dated, dingy bathroom into a calm, spa-like oasis using thrifted finds and a lot of elbow grease. Thanks, Linda, for sharing these fabulous photos — they’re the kind of inspiration that makes us want to pick up a hammer and start a project too.
