This week we share news about an exciting new project — our first commercial space — and some good progress on the beach house front. We also sit down with a Feng Shui expert for a quick lesson and discover where our own home already follows Feng Shui principles and where it falls short: from the unintended message our bedroom decor might be sending to how our office layout could be undermining one person’s productivity. Plus we announce how you can spend time with us this summer thanks to HGTV Magazine, and we each reveal a piece of clothing we’re oddly particular about.

What’s Not
- Above is a “before” shot of the loft office we’ve taken on for the ad agency where I used to work full-time. The dog in the photo is the office pup, Atlas.
- Although we couldn’t make it to Cape Charles last week, our contractor sent a drywall progress photo — you’re looking toward the curved foyer wall from the back door. Huge progress and very exciting!

Updates
- Above are photos from last year’s HGTV Magazine Block Party. We’re excited to be returning this summer on August 21 in New York City — it’s a free event and a great way to meet people in person.
- We’ll be there along with Joy Cho of Oh Joy, Sam Ushiro (Aww.Sam), Sara Peterson (editor-in-chief of HGTV Magazine), and other bloggers to be announced.
- You can hear about last year’s event (and our first in-person meeting with Emily Henderson) in Episode #15.
- Also, Ikea posted a clarification that some products listed on Amazon are not officially from them.

Feng Shui
- Tenaya Kolar, the Feng Shui expert and design consultant we interviewed, shared accessible tips for arranging rooms and improving flow.
- She offers a free three-day email crash course for anyone who wants an introduction to practical Feng Shui basics.
- Below is an older picture of our office where Sherry’s desk placement reads more “in command” than mine.

- In a later photo you can see we added a mirror above my desk to reflect the area behind me after we moved a painting into the bedroom.

- One of the “single ladies” prints hangs above the plant in our bedroom.

- The other print is displayed on the opposite wall, which helps balance that side of the room.

We’re Digging
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7
- Here are a few of the black one-piece swimsuits Sherry tried on during her search. Numbers 1 and 6 are the ones she kept, and she included notes for other short, small-headed women in the graphic above.
- For my part, I’ve been wearing a plain, close-fitting baseball cap that I like a lot. I bought it in navy but am considering black or green as well.
