Our third annual Wedding Week is here as we approach our anniversary this Wednesday. It’s hard to believe another year has passed, especially since our DIY backyard wedding (held at Casa Petersik on 7.7.07) still feels like it happened yesterday.

Many of you have already read about our wedding by clicking the tab under our blog header. In past Wedding Weeks we’ve shared details about our courtship, engagement, honeymoon and even related DIY projects — like how I dyed my wedding dress to wear it again.

We also created a shadow box filled with wedding keepsakes and shared anniversary traditions, such as recreating the wedding meal for our first anniversary and dining at the restaurant where we had our rehearsal dinner for our second anniversary.

For anyone who wants a quick reminder, here’s a concise list of the wedding-related posts we’ve covered:
- Our main wedding page with DIY details
- How I dyed my wedding dress to wear it again and again
- A relationship timeline covering how we met, fell in love, and got married
- The story of John’s proposal
- A play-by-play of our Alaskan honeymoon (with Burger!)
- How we created our wedding shadow box
- How our wedding beverages became hostess gifts
- Our small anniversary traditions
- The place where we almost said “I do” before switching to our backyard
Since we’ve already touched on many wedding topics in earlier posts, we’re aiming to keep this year’s Wedding Week fresh and interesting. This week’s schedule includes:
- A wedding-themed giveaway that’s open to engaged, not-yet-engaged, and already-married readers
- A post about how we resolve decorating disagreements
- A romantic bedroom mood board for anyone looking to refresh their love nest
- A roundup of DIY home decor projects we’ve created to mark special moments
- A post about the gifts we exchanged this year
- A post about how we expanded our anniversary tradition
It may be a little self-indulgent and some entries stray from strict home improvement topics, but our relationship is a central part of what makes Young House Love what it is. We hope you enjoy this week’s lovey-dovey detour — and don’t worry, we’ll still share plenty of home-related content too. As always, stay tuned…
