As our fifth blogiversary week wraps up, we want to send a huge thank you to everyone who took part in the festivities, shared laughs, and—most importantly—completed our little annual poll that appeared in Monday’s post. This year more than 30,000 of you responded. Wow. Thank goodness for Google helping to crunch the numbers (a far cry from our first blogiversary when I manually copied and pasted all 199 comment responses into a spreadsheet).
It wasn’t a scientific study, but we uncovered plenty of entertaining trends and figures that we’re happy to share alongside the graphics we created. I keep saying “fun” in hopes you’ll forget this is technically a statistics post—did it work? If you don’t want to scroll through the images, here’s the short version: most of you resemble us (well, more like Sherry): married Americans who own a house and a dog. For the first time, we’re actually older than a majority of our readers, which might mean it’s time to consider putting quotation marks around the “young” in our name—or maybe checking availability for “Thirty-Something House Love.” Either way, here are the highlights…

We loved reading your responses and learning more about who follows the blog. Were there any results that surprised you? Is there anything you’d like us to include in next year’s poll? Also: referencing yesterday’s post about goals, this write-up clocks in under 375 words (not counting the text inside the graphics). Small and satisfying—like a dense truffle on a slice of pound cake. Consider that resolution tackled.
