A Weekend of Nonstop Adventure and Unexpected Moments

It had only been a week since our last whirlwind weekend, and we somehow managed to top it with an even crazier trip. This time the adventure stretched to six days, crossed ten states, and required forty hours of driving. Yes — forty.

What prompted such a marathon? My cousin’s wedding in Dallas and a handful of spare vacation days. We’re hopeless when it comes to road trips, so last Thursday we headed west from Richmond. We broke the journey into four long driving legs, each close to ten hours, and took a day in Nashville to explore, eat great BBQ, and catch up with two of our favorite home bloggers. Along the way we had a few funny moments — including a brief spotting and near-outing during our low-key romp through the Southeast.

We arrived in Dallas in time for a beautiful Sunday wedding, then hopped back in the car for two more driving days on the return route through Birmingham. It was a lot of miles, but plenty of fun. We rolled into Richmond late Tuesday night with a trunk full of stories, photos, and videos to sort through.

Highlights included a quirky hotel stay with friends, a short “how we travel with Burger” video, and my cousin’s lovely DIY wedding details. We even captured hours of footage from our four ten-hour driving days with a homemade dashboard camera rigged from a tripod and a little tape. There are plenty of home-related posts and travel stories coming — we’re sorting through the photos and editing clips now.

Stay tuned: we’ll be sharing the best moments, tips from the road, and a few DIY wedding decor ideas as soon as we stop dreaming in road signs.
