On Tuesday, Annastazia reminded us that many readers have impressive before-and-after photos of their homes. Even better, there’s now an opportunity to turn those photos into support for a good cause — and possibly earn a small reward: a $50 gift card.
One Project Closer — a blog that follows the home improvement projects of two Baltimore couples — is organizing a summer event called Before & After ’08. You can read the full details on their site, but here’s a concise summary:
- Readers submit stories and photos of projects completed in late spring or early summer.
- One Project Closer publishes one submission each Sunday and donates $25 to Habitat for Humanity in the submitter’s name.
- At the end of the summer, readers vote for the best before-and-after project; the winner receives a $50 gift card to their preferred home improvement store.
It’s a simple, meaningful way to share home improvement accomplishments while raising awareness and funds for a well-regarded charity. We think this event is a great idea, and we’re deciding which of our projects to enter. We’re leaning toward our front walkway renovation, which was completed in late spring.
Keep your fingers crossed that our entry is selected so we can share the finished after photos — including the slate path with grass sprouting between the stones. If you plan to submit a project, please let us know so we can follow your entry and vote at the end of the summer.
