Board and Batten with Coat Hooks: Foyer Makeover by the Front Door

A little bit of us is always envious of a proper entryway in a home, since both of ours open straight into a room. With plans to add board and batten in our hallway someday, we especially love Jenna Sue’s lovely foyer makeover. Here’s her note:

We’re in the middle of countless projects at our house, but we recently finished one we’re proud of. Our entryway originally had old white faux-marble tile floors, metallic floral wallpaper, and an outdated light fixture.

Foyer before

We replaced the floor with travertine-style porcelain tile, DIYed board and batten with practical coat hooks, added fresh paint, and installed a rustic light fixture.

Foyer after with tile

I designed some artwork for the space and, voilà — it felt complete.

We love the open, welcoming feeling when you walk in now; it’s a breath of fresh air.

Thanks for looking, and I can’t wait to see how your kitchen turns out — we’re adding open shelving to ours soon, and we’re excited! — Jenna Sue

Thanks to Jenna Sue for sharing this transformation. Our favorite parts? The board and batten instantly bring structure and charm, the industrial-style light adds character, and the dark coat hooks are a stylish, functional touch.
