When Yansy sent us photos of her forest-inspired bedroom makeover, we were excited to share the full transformation. Here’s the note she sent us:
I wanted to share my finished master bedroom since your Forest Wall project inspired me. I’d love your thoughts. I borrowed the idea from your old dining room chalk project, but instead of using chalk and sealer I traced the pattern with white chalk and painted over it. I didn’t copy the design from anywhere — it’s my own, which is probably why it took about five hours from start to finish. I recommend tracing with chalk first rather than painting directly so you can adjust the design and be sure you like it. After months of searching for ideas and seeing that the wallpapers I liked were expensive, I decided to create my own. I’m very happy with how it turned out. Thanks for the inspiration! — Yansy

And here’s the same space after Yansy’s lovely DIY Forest Wall:

Isn’t this a calming, cozy bedroom to come home to after a long day? Yansy created a custom, wallpaper-like mural at a fraction of the cost of commercial wallpaper by planning the design, tracing it with chalk, and painting carefully. The result is a unique, hand-painted look that brings nature into the space without breaking the bank.
Thanks to Yansy for sharing these stunning before-and-after photos. If you’re considering a similar project, try sketching your design in chalk first, work in stages, and take your time outlining shapes before committing to paint. The approach is budget-friendly and allows a lot of creative freedom, especially when you want a personalized pattern that you can’t find in stores.
