We wanted to share some happy news: our family recently grew by one.
On Friday the 14th at 5:57 p.m., Clara Kenley Petersik was born weighing 7 lbs 10 oz and measuring 20.5 inches long. We are completely in love with her. She and Burger are already inseparable—he insists on standing guard beside her at all times.

Her name honors family across both sides: Clara is after John’s grandmother, Kenley blends my dad Ken and John’s mom’s maiden name Kelley, with a nod to my great-aunt Lee. We love names that carry so much meaning.
We’re home from the hospital now and settling into life at Casa Petersik. After a four-day stay—and a frightening complication during delivery that required an emergency C-section to keep Clara safe—we’re incredibly grateful that she is healthy. The delivery involved a sudden placental abruption and an umbilical cord prolapse, and a team of skilled doctors and nurses acted quickly. Despite the scare, Clara is doing wonderfully and is absolutely adorable.

Back at home, Clara is settling into her new surroundings and we feel incredibly fortunate. Thank you to everyone who sent well wishes and support during our journey to parenthood. We’re excited to share how our home adapts for a little person—organization ideas, storage solutions, simple living tips, and plenty of DIY projects and budget-friendly room makeovers are coming.

Now we’ll return to our regular blogging schedule. We have a great house tour to share soon—stay tuned.
P.S. We’ll be announcing the random winner of the baby pool and a $100 West Elm gift card tomorrow, so be sure to check back.
