Crunch the Numbers: Simple Ways to Calculate Smarter

When it comes to how long, how many, and how often, we don’t usually quantify our blogging. For our blogiversary, though, we wanted to share some numbers and milestones to give you a clearer picture of what goes on behind the scenes.

380: The number of posts we’ve published to date.

2,592: The total comments we’ve received from readers (this number keeps climbing thanks to the responses to our recent posts).

1,799: Spam comments intercepted by our excellent spam filter. We appreciate the vigilance—no unwanted offers or dubious links on this site.

8: The number of posts we like to keep scheduled at all times, just in case life (or an unexpected vacation) forces a change in plans.

18: The most posts we’ve published in a single week.

4: The most posts we’ve published in one day.

2: The average number of times per day I call John with a technical blogging question or emergency.

2: The average number of times per day I call John to share something funny Burger did.

10: The average number of hours each day I spend at my desk working on the blog.

5: The number of steps from my desk to the couch, where I often relocate with my laptop after John gets home.

4: The average number of times per week I use the word “swankify.”

5: The list of “Sherry-words” John refuses to use when blogging: swoon, swankify, gorge, fab, and purty.

America’s Next Top Model: Not a number, but our favorite non-home-improvement show to watch while blogging. It often requires pausing so we don’t miss any of Tyra’s unforgettable moments.

Is there anything else you’d like to know? Ask and we’ll calculate (to the best of my math-challenged abilities).
