We swapped out the artwork in the guest bedroom and wanted to share the update. Because the room has one of the best views of the house—overlooking the large green backyard—we decided to bring more green into the space to complement the existing green headboard and the view. We also wanted to add some graphic elements to tie in the bold patterned blanket at the foot of the bed.
Here’s a shot of the old artwork (striped fabric we framed a few years ago):
And a close-up of the new pieces we installed: these are enlarged color images of two graphic green wool rugs from a decorating magazine. I cut the images into strips so both patterns appear across both frames, creating a layered, cohesive look.

I love the new patterns and textures—they feel more interesting and play perfectly with the quilted bright green headboard we made earlier, as well as the crisp, modern lines of the blanket at the bed’s foot.
I also removed an older piece I created in Photoshop about five years ago when I lived in a small, stark studio in the city and wanted bright, colorful art. While the reds, oranges, and turquoise were cheerful then, they felt like too much in this green-focused scheme.
To calm the palette and introduce texture that complements the brown-and-white blanket, I used another magazine image—this time an animal-print rug photo blown up and cut into sixths. The result adds a subtle, tactile pattern without overwhelming the room.
Finally, I added another print in the new green-and-brown palette to help tie everything together and keep the room feeling soothing and fresh for guests (and for us).
Hope you like the switcheroo!
