If you live in Richmond, you may have already realized the Sunny mentioned in this morning’s Reader Redesign is local paint maven Sunny Goode. Even readers outside the area might recognize her name — Sunny’s work has been featured here before, like when we toured this Domino-featured home that showcased her signature stenciled floor treatment:
We also visited her shop, Sunny’s Goodtime Paints, a couple of years ago to see her work and supplies up close:

Recently we got a sneak peek at one of her latest projects — the floor at Clover, a soon-to-open children’s consignment boutique in Richmond’s Carytown district. It’s a playful, well-executed design that we’ll highlight again because the shop is full of inspired, doable ideas.
Sunny’s work offers a range of simple techniques to add personality and pattern to floors, walls, and furniture. She’s best known for stencils, color washes, and stains that bring texture and interest to otherwise plain surfaces. Beyond those basics, she creates monograms, decals, and has authored two books that guide readers through creative paint projects: Paint Can! and a kid-focused companion.
Because Sunny’s work inspires so many creative projects, we hosted a giveaway: two winners each received a $100 shopping spree to spend at Sunny’s Goodtime Paints. Plenty of readers also benefited from a sitewide discount announced alongside the giveaway. Here are the original giveaway details for reference:
