Yesterday was my sweet hubby’s birthday, so I thought I’d share the gift Clara, Burger and I picked out for him. Lately John and I have been talking about collecting more original artwork to complement the many DIY pieces we already have framed throughout the house. Our friends Matt and Kristin have been a big inspiration—the bright, cheerful paintings in their home always make us want to add more color and personality to our walls. Consider this small painting the start of that collection, destined to hang happily in our new house:

It’s a 12 x 12″ original oil on canvas by an Etsy artist named Roz, and it cost about $75. The moment I saw it I knew it was perfect. John and I even worked bees into our wedding invitation (you can see that in our backyard wedding post), so we’ve always thought of bees as our little animal—well, insect. Seeing two bees playing across the canvas felt like a sweet symbol of our relationship: two of us buzzing around together. My man gives me a buzz, what can I say. Okay, enough cheese—he loves it, and I’m so glad we found it.
