Before we took down the holiday decorations, we decided to snap a few better-late-than-never seasonal photos — since this was likely the last time we’d get a picture like this in front of the tree.

Kinda wild to think this was our last Christmas with just one little kid (well, two if you count Burger — and closer to thirty if you include Sherry’s ceramic animals). Even crazier: Clara managed to stay still long enough for a long exposure! If you want to try a photo like this, here are our tips: use a tripod, dim the room lights so the tree lights glow, pick a long exposure, and stand as still as possible. The results are really neat.

What did you wrap and unwrap this year? Do you and your partner exchange big gifts, or stick to small, fun things you’ve been eyeing? Sherry and I usually keep things low-key, but we love hearing about both huge surprises (any cars with giant bows in driveways?) and small, thoughtful presents.
Update: You can check out our favorite holiday decor finds — many under $15 — in our curated list of seasonal picks.
