Nailhead Ottoman Side Table Ideas for Stylish Bedroom Decor

I’m absolutely in love with the latest addition to our bedroom: a lovely linen-look ottoman trimmed with nailhead detailing.

It looks like a pricey pouf, but we found it at TJ Maxx for just $119 — the most we’ve ever spent on an ottoman. (For comparison, two leather ottomans in the den were $69 each from Target, and a woven ottoman in the third bedroom was under $40.) Still, this one was love at first sight. I tried to resist when I first saw it with a friend, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I convinced John to go back that evening and see it for himself.

One of our shopping rules is to have a spot in mind before buying something, and I already had two possible places: tucked under the console table in the living room or beside the armchair in the master bedroom. I also promised we could return it if neither spot worked. To my delight, John liked it too, and soon we were bringing our new nailhead-adorned pouf home.

Before the ottoman, the bedside surface was a DIY pedestal table. We created it by placing a Lowe’s tabletop on a smaller wooden pedestal from Target and painting the whole thing glossy white. It was an improvement over our previous setup, but the exposed fan wire always looked messy and the table felt a touch too tall next to the low leather armchair.

We moved the pedestal table into the den (more photos coming — that ended up being a mini makeover of its own) and put the plush new pouf by the chair instead.

The ottoman sits at the perfect height for the chair now; it no longer competes with the arm’s height. The ceiling fan also sits lower in relation to the bed, so it’s directed more comfortably at us while we sleep instead of skimming above our heads. Summer already feels more inviting. Best of all, the ugly black fan wire is no longer visible. Because the ottoman has a lower profile and smaller surface area than the pedestal table, the room feels a bit more open and less crowded — a welcome change in our small bedroom.

And those nailheads? They’re the finishing touch that sold me. Swoon.
