You’ve heard of rolling out the red carpet, but what about the pink one? Pink is Clara’s favorite color and brings a warm, cheerful contrast to the cool blues, greens, and grays that dominate much of the house. The playful dots on the rug pair wonderfully with Clara’s bold big-girl bedding, creating a lively, joyful vibe that’s even better in person.
Price-wise, this rug was a great find. We’d been searching for something that would work with the blanket and overall color scheme in Clara’s room—reds, pinks, and lots of accent pops like navy, yellow, and teal—but most 7 x 9 rugs we found at local outlets, Target, or Overstock were going for $400–$700, which felt steep. We even checked Craigslist and eBay without much luck.
After waiting and continuing the search, we finally spotted a 7′ x 9′ wool rug marked down to $236.95 from $629 on Joss & Main. It’s 100% wool and hand-tufted, with a soft gradient and imperfect, hand-drawn-looking dots that felt perfectly “Clara.” We ordered it during a free-shipping promotion, which made it feel like an extra win since shipping can add a lot to the cost of large items.
Of course, right after placing the order we had that little moment of doubt about buying a rug sight unseen. But our previous experience with ordering a living room rug online had gone well, so we stayed hopeful.
When it arrived, excitement took over:

We waited until Clara was napping to place it in her big-girl room/playroom. The space began with soft, milky-tea colored walls and a fairly tame palette…
…and now the room feels delightfully pink thanks to the bedding and the rug.
We plan to balance the pink by adding art, curtains, a new light fixture, and other elements that will break up the color. Large objects on the rug and some navy accents—perhaps in picture frames or the light fixture—should help ground the space and create contrast. I’m impatient to see how it all comes together, but it’s fun to get the rug down early in the process.
For now we’re enjoying the plush texture and the pattern—polka dots combined with a gradient. Most of our rugs are a single tone, so it’s refreshing to have one that darkens as you step toward the center of the room.
