When we noticed West Elm’s impressive post-Christmas sales, we decided to treat Ed the bed to a new king-sized duvet cover (meet Ed here and here). Although Ed is actually a queen, we opted for a king cover so it would drape more generously over the sides—the old full/queen cover had started to look a little snug. We also hoped the extra fabric would help reduce late-night tug-of-war over the blankets. Here’s the one we picked:

We love its bright, bold geometric pattern and the energetic color palette. It’s a cheerful look to wake up to, and it ties in nicely with the colors from our new house color scheme. Thanks to a generous holiday discount, the king-sized cover was reduced from $80 to $50:

Is it just me, or does that red “sale” text make you giddy too? I can’t resist hunting for an extra coupon to shave a bit more off the price, so I did a quick search and found a discount that brought the total down further.

After applying the coupon, the duvet came to $42.49 (about $50 with tax and shipping), which felt like a great deal for a king size. For some reason, “king” sizing always sounds extravagant—as if it’s fit for royalty—so we’re extra pleased with the price. Now we’ll wait the customary few business days and imagine Ed wearing his new, oversized duvet uniform.

Good luck, new duvet cover. Welcome to Ed’s kingdom.
