It’s hard to believe it’s been seven months since our last house tour video — far too long. So here it is: eight engaging minutes of me wandering through the house, talking about changes and plans while the Flip cam captures all the slightly shaky, Blair-Witch-style footage. We chose to film now because the kitchen is finished and we’re about to start several new projects: some landscaping, updating one of the three bathrooms we haven’t touched, and building a large deck, among other things. Feel free to come on in and look around:
Some quick notes from the tour:
- My voice is still a little scratchy two weeks after the flu — sorry about the croakiness.
- I realize a “trifecta” technically refers to three things, not two. My brain was definitely fried that day.
- This time there isn’t a bra draped over our bedroom chair — progress!
- It also means I was actually wearing a bra while filming this video, unlike on a previous occasion when Katie revealed my “one-bra” situation.
- Many of you say my voice sounds like Natalie Portman or Mila Kunis. I listened to the recording five times trying to hear it, and I honestly can’t, though I tried.
- I filmed about five minutes, walked into the bedroom, realized the front of the door (where we did a secret book project) was visible, and had to start over. Live and learn.
- Play a round of Where’s Burger — he’s in the video. Also, my best friend briefly appears through a window while she was arriving as I hurried to finish the tour (when the house is clean, take advantage!).
- You can actually see my shadow wildly gesturing while I talk about not being able to open the playroom door — apparently I gesture whether anyone sees me or not.
- Once again, I’m not great at walking, talking, and holding a camera at the same time, so please pardon the shaking.
Random TV-related aside: did anyone catch Tuesday’s Cougar Town? Our ceramic rhino made a background appearance:

I’m taking that cameo as a sign that rhinos are the new elephants and owls — expect to see rhinos everywhere soon. Also, have you noticed the large ceramic dog sitting next to CeeLo on The Voice when he announced battles? Ceramic animals seem to be having a moment. And that fluffy white cat CeeLo holds and affectionately strokes is pretty memorable too — if only I weren’t allergic.
Psst — if you want to see our other house tour videos since we moved in, check the earlier tours and the outside tour from last year.
