YHL On Your TV This Thursday!: a house log

Remember when we told you a while back that HGTV stopped by to film us for their show Rate My Space? Well, our episode is at last scheduled to air this week! So plan a date with your couch (or your DVR) for Thursday, Dec 18th at 9pm e/p to catch us in live action (does that scare you as much as it scares us?).

HGTV’s Rate My Space is based on their popular website where people can post photos of their homes to get rated by other users (of course we posted our whole house in hopes that people would find our journal). For the TV show, HGTV selects rooms with low ratings and gives them makeovers based on higher rated rooms. And since the episode description on the Rate My Space site kinda reveals this anyway, we can at last tell you that our master bedroom was picked as an inspiration room for its “spa like” qualities. Flattering, right? We are still blushing.

We have not seen any of the footage ourselves so our fingers are crossed that we do not look like total dweebs on camera. It is not like we expect to look like bona fide TV hosts or anything, we are simply hoping for a few full sentences and no incoherent babbling. Ah well, we will only be on for 3 or 4 minutes anyways so how bad can it get? Wait a minute, do not answer that. And we are truly excited to see how the final makeover turns out in the room that we helped inspire. They had only began painting when we saw shots of it during the taping so we are truly looking forward to the big reveal.

Do not get HGTV? Busy on the 18th? Check out the episode page for re-run times and stay tuned (once it is aired) for a link to the whole thing online (assuming we are not hiding under a rock somewhere). Plus, we will follow up next week to get your take on the episode and dish out some more behind-the-scenes details about everything from the process to the host and the homeowners.
