Remember when we mentioned that HGTV stopped by to film us for their show Rate My Space? Our episode is finally scheduled to air this week. Mark your calendar for Thursday, Dec 18th at 9pm e/p — couch date or DVR recommended — to catch us on TV.
HGTV’s Rate My Space is based on their popular website where people post photos of their homes to be rated by other users. We posted photos of our house there too, hoping some readers would discover our blog. For the TV show, producers select rooms with low ratings and give them makeovers inspired by higher-rated rooms. As the episode description hints, our master bedroom was chosen as an inspiration room for its “spa-like” qualities — a flattering nod that still has us blushing.
We haven’t seen the finished footage yet, so we’re crossing our fingers that we don’t come across as total goofballs on camera. We don’t expect to appear as polished TV hosts — a few complete sentences and minimal rambling would be a win. The segment will only run a few minutes, so it can’t be that bad, right? We’re also very curious to see the final makeover in the room we helped inspire. When the crew filmed, they had just started painting, so we’re eager for the big reveal.
