Did you catch that candy conversation heart reference in the title? Those little hearts always make me laugh—especially the modern ones that say things like “Text Me” and “Tweet Me.” Anyway, the point of this post is to wish everyone a happy Valentine’s Day and to share some adorable Clara photos. These are the same pictures we sent to family and friends alongside a funny V-day card featuring a Burger-esque chihuahua on the front (got to represent both kids, after all). Consider these photos mailed to you too:

That $1 stuffed candy heart from Target’s dollar spot was the perfect V-day prop — especially when you have a baby who likes to suck her fingers if she’s idle in photos. And yes, there was a lot of high-pitched singing and energetic dancing from Mom and Dad to get these shots. No shame in that. You do whatever it takes when three sets of expectant grandparents are waiting at the mailbox for their cards.
For Clara’s weekly photo we used some heart-themed fabric, and John even did a little Photoshop work on the week number (normally it’s inside a circle). If you want to see the other 38 photos and project details, check out the full gallery.

Okay, enough baby pictures — I know I’m like that person at the mall who hands out a wallet insert full of kids’ photos to anyone who’ll take one. Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a pet, partner, neighbor, friend, family, favorite magazine, or even throwing an anti-V-day party, I hope it’s a day worth remembering. Speaking of remembering, we’re trying to find more balance this year (one of our resolutions), so we’re taking it easy today and enjoying the day as a family of four — chihuahua included. It’s also Clara’s nine-month birthday, so we’re extra sentimental. It feels wild that she’s now been outside longer than she was inside; making her felt like it took forever, but the time since her birth has flown by.
We’re not disappearing — we’re still very much blog-obsessed and will be back this afternoon with a love-filled giveaway. Tomorrow we’ll return to our regular schedule and might even have some dining table photos to share. Until then, big wet kisses from the whole Petersik clan. Don’t worry, we don’t have mono.
