I’m back with an easy thrift-store makeover. John and I picked up this well-worn brass candlestick at Goodwill for $1.99. I convinced him that a bright, modern color would refresh the traditional shape and give it a clean, updated look in about five minutes.

I gave it a few light coats of glossy yellow spray paint (Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Gloss in Sun Yellow). The paint went on smoothly and dried quickly, so there was no tedious prep or long wait time.

The result is a cheerful, inexpensive accessory that looks fresh and modern. It pairs nicely with both neutral and bold decor, and the bright yellow instantly lifts the piece from dated to contemporary.

Quick? Absolutely. Affordable? Definitely. Doable for anyone? Yes. We’re already planning seasonal arrangements that will make great use of this little pop of color — everything from Halloween and Thanksgiving to cozy fall vignettes.
Have you tried a similar thrift-store refresh lately? Any candlestick projects or quick paint updates you’re loving? I’d love to hear what you’ve transformed on the cheap.
