In honor of moving week, we’ll share a post of empty-house photos (and a list of what stayed with the house) in a day or two. Before that, we wanted to take one last look back at our exterior progress. We filmed outdoor tours in both 2011 and 2012, so the video we shot a few weeks ago—right before we began packing—serves as our third and final installment.
*Before you press play: I get awkward when I’m the one holding the camera and talking, so be warned I flirt with the deck. The deck is not interested.
With that out of the way, let’s take one last outdoor tour.
Here’s how the front yard evolved:

Here’s how the carport shaped up:

The back yard also benefitted from some thoughtful paring back, which revealed the original brick walkways and left room for grass where kids and dogs could play.

And how can we forget the alley that we converted into a deck last summer—just missing last year’s outdoor tour.

Recently we gave the front porch a makeover, adding color and contrast to brighten the entrance.

We’ve since moved the planters to our new house, so the porch is currently less full of greenery than shown here.
Of all the upgrades, my favorite remains our very first outdoor project: the patio. It’s the space that changed the most dramatically and probably got the most use while we lived here.

Full disclosure: one of the patio photos is from last summer, when the lawn furniture was still in place and the hydrangeas were in full bloom. We wanted to remember it in all its glory.
